Drupal6.22: HTTP error 406

I don't know if it's always like that, but recently I noticed that whenever I open my site (managed with Drupal 6) from Lynx, it always gives HTTP error 406. The pages still load fine though, so it's more an annoying unconvenience instead of critical error.

On w3.org, 406 error defined as:

The resource identified by the request is only capable of generating response entities which have content characteristics not acceptable according to the accept headers sent in the request.
Whatever that means :|

I tried googling for solution. Some recommend to turn off mod_security by putting these lines on .htaccess
<IfModule mod_security.c>
  SecFilterEngine Off
</IfModule>
Nope, not working. Some recommend to get rid off xmlrpc.php altogether. Still not working.

I'm still figuring out what to do. May be upgrading to Drupal 7 or replace it with other CMS?

Wordpress 3.3 released

WordPress team has announced that WordPress 3.3 is available for download. Some new feature are:
  • New drag-and-drop uploader
  • New toolbar
  • Support for .rar and .7zip upload
  • File type detection
  • Flyout menus
It certainly has improved a lot, especially compared to version 2.x or older (ah, the memories). Complete list of features is listed on WordPress Codex page.

I got some WordPress sites still in 3.2 version, so I think I'll upgrade them as soon as possible :)

Mitochondria machines

I think it's common knowledge (at least for thos who went to high school) that we use energy provided by mitochondria. Mitochondria supplies ATP, which is used by our cells to provide energy by breaking it into ADP/ AMP. But I didn't know until recently that mitochondria is, literally, an organic rotary motor. A real organic machine.

Fascinating, no? You can see the real movies (not animations) taken with microscopes on http://www.k2.phys.waseda.ac.jp/F1movies/F1long.htm

Disappointing eclipse

A total lunar eclipse was taking place today. But it fails to be a spectacular view. From my place, the sky was heavily clouded (well, it's the rainy season here) which makes the eclipse observation a rather dull experience. Heck, even the June 2010 partial eclipse was more exciting than today.

It's a shame that I couldn't enjoy today eclipse. The next observable total lunar eclipse from my place would be on October 2014. There would be a partial lunar eclipse on June next year too; albeit only small region of the moon would be covered, I guess it would be quite exciting. Let's hope the sky would be clear at that time.

Opera offering BOOM headphones with its newest competition

Aside of the Opera Christmas holidays competition (what with Santa travelling all over the world, travelling through time), just yesterday Opera also launched BOOM marketing competition (for lack of better words). I honestly don't get what it's all about (is it campaigning for idea movement or just apparel marketing?), but the prizes quite sweet :D

The competition will be closed at December 16, 2011. Hope I could  win of those nice headphones :D

Opera 11.60 is released

I remember the first time I saw an Opera icon, on a computer in an internet cafe. I was like, WTF is this red O icon. At that time, I was convinced that IE is all you need. Of course I'm swiftly proven wrong. The tabbed browsing feature convinced me that this Opera browser is how future web-browser should look like.

Fast forward to present time. Opera is now one of my browser of choice, along with Firefox & Chrome. Who still need to use IE anyway?

And just yesterday, Opera Software ASA released their newest Opera version, Opera 11.60. There's 4 added features on this version: easy bookmark, redesigned mail client, new HTML5 parsing algorithm and faster secure pages. Although in honesty, if it only offered Opera Turbo, I'd still pick Opera over IE anyway :D

Can't wait for Opera 12 :D
